About Austin
Austin Ryan Backus is a New York-based actor and writer. He was born and raised in a small town in central Ohio. Despite what most people assume when they hear this, he did not live on a farm nor did he own cows. There were, however, plenty of corn fields for him to drive by every day. Maybe that explains his love for corn on the cob? Who's to say.
Austin got his start in acting like most did: A teacher in middle school saying "Hey, we need more guys in this show." to which Austin replied, "ok." and the rest is history.
Austin went on to study at Pace University in NYC where he earned his BFA in Acting. Aside from learning how to throw himself on the floor and how to fake punch all of his friends, Austin was able to cultivate a plethora of skills while being exposed to a wide variety of methods, genres, and mediums during his training.
Some of Austin's most recent credits include: Black Stache in "Peter and The Starcatcher", A Co-star role on "Rebels" for the History Channel, Charlie/Austin in "Imagine Sisyphus Happy" (A new play by Keelay Gipson), Berowne in "Love's Labour's Lost".
Outside of acting, Austin has a strange passion for rollerblading that even he doesn't fully understand but he has embraced.
